How to sort by date modified ascending ALWAYS in Windows?
As an IT administrator, sorting files and folders by date modified is a common task. This can be done quickly and easily in Windows, but there are a few steps you need to take in order to make sure that your sorting is always done in ascending order.
The first step is to open the folder that you want to sort. If you are sorting files within a folder, you can simply click on the folder icon to open it. If you are sorting files in multiple folders, you need to open the folder that contains all of the folders you want to sort.
Once you have opened the folder, you need to make sure that the view is set to “Details”. This can be done by clicking “View” in the top menu bar of the window and selecting “Details”.
Next, you need to click on the “Date modified” column heading. This will sort the files and folders by date modified, but it will be sorted in descending order (most recently modified files and folders appear at the top).
To sort the files and folders in ascending order (oldest modified files and folders appear first), click on the “Date modified” column heading again. This will change the sorting order and sort the files and folders in ascending order.
Now that the files and folders are sorted by date modified in ascending order, you can easily find the oldest files and folders. If you need to sort the files and folders by date modified in ascending order again, you simply need to click on the “Date modified” column heading again. This will change the sorting order to ascending order again.
It is important to note that this method will only sort the files and folders that are currently visible in the window. If you add or remove files and folders, you need to click on the “Date modified” column heading again to sort them in ascending order.
Sorting files and folders by date modified in ascending order is a simple task in Windows, but it is important to remember the steps you need to take in order to make sure that the sorting is always done in ascending order. By following the steps outlined above, you can quickly and easily sort the files and folders in your folders by date modified in ascending order.
