How to hide or disable "allow PC to be discoverable on this network"?

Whenever you connect to a wireless network, your device will be discoverable to other devices on the same network. This is a feature that allows other devices on the same network to find and connect to each other. Although this feature is convenient, it can also be a security issue. Therefore, it is often necessary to hide or disable the “allow PC to be discoverable on this network” feature.

If you are using a Windows PC, the first step is to open the Control Panel. Once you’re in the Control Panel, you will need to select “Network and Sharing Center”. This will open a window with a list of options. Select “Change Advanced Sharing Settings” from the list.

In the Advanced Sharing Settings window, you will need to select the profile you wish to modify. Depending on your settings, you may have one of three profiles: Private, Guest, or Public. In most cases, you will want to modify the Private profile. Once you have selected the profile, you will need to find the “Allow PC to be discoverable on this network” option. Uncheck the box next to the option to disable it.

If you are using a Mac device, the steps are a bit different. First, open the System Preferences. Then, select “Sharing” from the list of options. In the Sharing window, you will need to select the “Airport” tab. Then, uncheck the box next to the “Allow PCs to be discoverable on this network” option.

If you have an Android device, you will need to open the Settings menu. Then, select “Wi-Fi”. This will open a window with a list of Wi-Fi networks. Select the network you wish to modify, and then select the “Network Details” option. In the Network Details window, you will need to find the “Allow PC to be discoverable on this network” option. Uncheck the box next to the option to disable it.

If you have an iOS device, the steps are similar to those for Android. First, open the Settings menu. Then, select “Wi-Fi” and select the network you wish to modify. In the Network Details window, you will need to find the “Allow PC to be discoverable on this network” option. Uncheck the box next to the option to disable it.

By disabling the “allow PC to be discoverable on this network” feature, you can ensure that your device is not visible to other devices on the same network. This will help to protect your device from potential security risks. However, it is important to remember that disabling this feature may prevent other devices on the same network from being able to connect to your device. Therefore, it is important to weigh the risks and benefits before making a decision.
