How to customize columns in Windows Explorer as default settings?

Customizing Columns in Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is an application that allows users to easily access and manage their files, folders, and other content stored on their computer. It is the primary way for users to view and manage their files, as it provides a user-friendly interface for quickly navigating, organizing, and manipulating files. Windows Explorer also allows users to customize the columns that appear in the main view, enabling them to tailor the display to their own needs and preferences.

Customizing the columns that appear in Windows Explorer can be useful for sorting and organizing files and folders, as well as for quickly finding specific items. By default, Windows Explorer displays a limited set of columns, including Name, Date Modified, Type, and Size. Depending on the type of file or folder being viewed, additional columns may be available. For example, music files may have a column for Artist, while image files may have a column for Dimensions.

To customize the columns that appear in Windows Explorer, open the folder you want to customize and select the View tab at the top. From the View tab, select the Options button and then click on the View tab. From here, click the Apply to Folders button and then select the Customize tab.

On the Customize tab, you will see a list of all the available columns for the type of file or folder you are viewing. To add or remove a column from the list, click the check box next to the column name. To change the order of the columns, click the column name and drag it to the desired position in the list. When finished, click the Apply button and then click OK.

The new columns will now appear in Windows Explorer. To make the changes permanent, select the Change folder and search options link located in the left pane of the Windows Explorer window. On the Folder Options window, select the View tab and then click the Apply to Folders button. Select the Customize tab and make sure the Show all folder contents box is checked, then click OK. The new columns will now be used by default in all folders.

Customizing the columns in Windows Explorer can be a useful way to quickly organize and manage files and folders. By taking the time to customize the columns, users can tailor their view of the files and folders to their own specific needs and preferences. This can make navigating and finding files and folders much easier, as well as helping users to find and access the content they need in a more efficient manner.
