How to create an alias for multiple commands in ConEmu?

An alias is a command or a set of commands that can be used as a substitute for a longer command or command sequence. Aliases are often used to increase productivity and reduce typing. In ConEmu, aliases are a great way to create shortcuts for complex commands, making them easier to remember and execute.

An alias in ConEmu is defined as a set of commands that can be executed with a single keystroke, or a single command that is backed by a set of commands. An alias can be created for any set of commands, including those that are part of the ConEmu suite.

The simplest way to create an alias in ConEmu is to use the command prompt. To do this, open the command prompt, type “alias” followed by the name of the alias you wish to create, followed by the commands you want to execute. For example, to create an alias called “myalias” that executes the “dir” and “dir/s” command, you would type “alias myalias dir & dir/s”. After typing this command, the alias will be created and ready to be used.

It is also possible to create an alias in ConEmu using the ConEmu GUI. To do this, open the ConEmu GUI, select “Settings”, then select “Aliases”. In the “Aliases” window, click the “+” button to create a new alias. In the new alias window, type the name of the alias in the “Alias” field, followed by the commands you want to execute in the “Commands” field. Once done, click the “OK” button to save the alias.

Once an alias is created, it can be used in the command prompt or in the ConEmu GUI. To use an alias in the command prompt, type the name of the alias followed by any arguments that may be required for the commands you wish to execute. For example, if you created an alias called “myalias” that executed the “dir” and “dir/s” commands, you would type “myalias :\\” to execute the commands on the specified drive and path.

To use an alias in the ConEmu GUI, select “Settings”, then select “Aliases”. In the “Aliases” window, select the alias you wish to use, then click the “Run” button. The commands associated with the alias will then be executed.

Creating aliases in ConEmu is a great way to increase productivity and reduce typing, allowing you to execute complex commands with a single keystroke. With the ability to create aliases in the command prompt and the ConEmu GUI, it is easy to customize your aliases to fit your needs.
