Uninstalling Windows Live Messenger without Uninstalling Windows Live Essentials

Windows Live Essentials is a suite of applications that includes Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Movie Maker, Windows Live Writer, Windows Live Family Safety and Windows Live Sync. Windows Live Messenger is a popular instant messaging program that allows users to communicate with friends and family over the Internet. However, some users may not want to use Windows Live Messenger and instead prefer to use other instant messaging programs such as Skype or Yahoo Messenger. In this case, it is possible to uninstall Windows Live Messenger without uninstalling the entire Windows Live Essentials suite.

The first step is to open the Control Panel and select “Uninstall a Program”. This will display a list of all the programs currently installed on your computer. Scroll down the list until you find “Windows Live Essentials”. Select this, and then click on “Uninstall/Change”. This will open the Windows Live Essentials uninstall wizard.

On the first page of the wizard, select “Customize”. This will display a list of all the components of Windows Live Essentials. Deselect the checkbox next to Windows Live Messenger and any other components that you do not wish to keep. Once you have done this, click “Next”. You will then be asked to confirm the uninstallation. Click “Uninstall” to confirm and the uninstall process will begin.

When the uninstall is complete, you will be asked to restart your computer. Once your computer has restarted, Windows Live Messenger and any other components that you chose to uninstall will no longer be present on your computer. However, the rest of the Windows Live Essentials suite will remain installed.

Uninstalling Windows Live Messenger without uninstalling the entire Windows Live Essentials suite is a simple process. All you need to do is open the Control Panel, select “Uninstall a Program” and select “Windows Live Essentials”. Then, select “Customize” and deselect the checkbox next to Windows Live Messenger and any other components that you do not wish to keep. Click “Uninstall” to begin the uninstall process and then restart your computer when prompted. Windows Live Messenger and any other components that you chose to uninstall will no longer be present on your computer, but the rest of the Windows Live Essentials suite will remain installed.
