How do I see the BSSID of the Wifi AP I'm currently connected to in Windows?

As an IT administrator, it is important to have detailed information about the networks that you are managing. Knowing the basic service set identifier (BSSID) of a wireless access point (AP) is one of the most important pieces of data that you need to collect.

The BSSID is a unique identifier that is associated with each wireless AP. It is made up of the MAC address of the device, as well as the radio frequency (RF) channel that the AP is broadcasting on. This information is important in order to ensure that the AP is operating correctly and securely.

In Windows, there are two ways to view the BSSID of the AP you are connected to. The first way is to use the command prompt. To do this, first open the command prompt window by pressing the Windows key + R and typing “cmd” into the run dialog box. Once the command prompt window is open, type “netsh wlan show interfaces” and press enter. This will bring up a list of all the wireless interfaces on your computer. Look for the “SSID” field, which will list the BSSID of the AP you are connected to.

The second way to view the BSSID is to use the Windows Network and Sharing Center. To access this, open the start menu and type “network and sharing center” into the search box. Once the window is open, click on the “Change Adapter Settings” link on the left. This will open a new window with all the network adapters on your computer. Right click on the wireless adapter and select “Properties”. This will open a new window with the adapter’s properties. Scroll down to the “General” tab and look for the “Network Address” field. This will list the BSSID of the AP you are connected to.

Knowing the BSSID of the AP you are connected to is important information for any IT administrator. With this data, you can ensure that the AP is operating correctly and securely. Knowing the BSSID also allows you to identify which APs are connected to a given network, which can help you keep track of which devices are connected to your network.
