How can I make a program that runs on Windows startup automatically minimize/close?

As an IT administrator, you may want to configure a Windows program to run automatically at startup and minimize or close immediately after launching. This is a useful feature for programs that are necessary for the system to run but do not need to be visible or in use all the time.

In order to complete this task, the first step is to create a shortcut for the program you want to launch automatically. To do this, you will need to locate the executable file for the program. It is typically located in the program’s installation directory, but it can also be found in the Start menu if the program has been installed on the computer. Once you have located the executable file, right-click on it and select “Create Shortcut” from the context menu. This will create a shortcut for the program on the desktop.

Once the shortcut has been created, you need to configure the program to run automatically at startup. To do this, right-click on the shortcut and select “Properties” from the context menu. In the Shortcut tab, click the “Advanced” button. This will open the Advanced Properties dialog box. In the Advanced Properties dialog box, check the “Run as administrator” checkbox and click “OK”. This will close the Advanced Properties dialog box and return you to the Shortcut tab.

The next step is to configure the shortcut to launch the program at startup and minimize or close after launching. To do this, click the “Shortcut” tab and enter the following command in the “Target” field:

C:\\path\\to\\program.exe -min

This command will launch the program in a minimized state and close it immediately after it has launched. Alternatively, you can use the command:

C:\\path\\to\\program.exe -hide

This command will launch the program in a hidden state and close it immediately after it has launched.

Once you have configured the shortcut to launch the program automatically, you need to move it to the Startup folder. To do this, open the Start menu and type “shell:startup” in the search box. This will open the Startup folder. Drag and drop the shortcut into the Startup folder.

The final step is to configure the program to run at startup with the correct privileges. To do this, right-click on the shortcut in the Startup folder and select “Run as administrator” from the context menu. When prompted, enter the credentials of an administrator account and click “OK”. This will ensure that the program runs with the correct privileges at startup.

Once these steps have been completed, the program will run automatically at startup and minimize or close immediately after launching. This can be a useful feature for programs that need to be running in the background but do not need to be visible or in use all the time.
