Disable recent files in Windows 10

explanation

As an IT administrator, you may want to disable recent files in Windows 10 because you want to maintain a secure environment on the company computers. Many people may not realize that Windows 10 stores recent files in the Recent Files folder and that this information can be easily accessed by any user who knows where to look. By disabling the Recent Files feature, you can ensure that no sensitive information is being exposed and that only authorized users are accessing the data.

To disable recent files in Windows 10, you must first open the File Explorer. To do this, right-click on the Start button and select File Explorer. In the File Explorer window, click the View tab and then select the Options button. This will open the Folder Options window. In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab and then select the radio button next to Don’t show recently used files in Quick Access. This will disable the Recent Files feature.

You can also disable the Recent Files feature in the Privacy settings. To do this, open the Settings app, select Privacy, and then select General. In the General settings, scroll down and select the toggle switch next to Show recent files in Quick Access. This will disable the Recent Files feature.

You can also disable the Recent Files feature in the Group Policy Editor. To do this, open the Run window by pressing the Windows + R keys. In the Run window, type gpedit.msc and press Enter. This will open the Group Policy Editor. In the Group Policy Editor window, navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer. In the File Explorer window, double-click on the link to Turn off display of recent files and folders in Quick Access. This will open the Properties window. Select the Enabled radio button and then click the Apply button. This will disable the Recent Files feature.

By disabling the Recent Files feature in Windows 10, you can help ensure that only authorized users are accessing sensitive information. Disabling the Recent Files feature also helps to maintain an efficient and secure environment in the workplace.
