Disable Windows Defender in Windows 10

Microsoft Windows Defender is one of the most powerful and comprehensive anti-malware and security solutions available for Windows 10. Windows Defender is enabled by default and works to protect your computer from malicious software, viruses, and other threats. However, some users may wish to disable Windows Defender for various reasons.

In this article, we will discuss how to disable Windows Defender in Windows 10. Before proceeding, it’s important to note that disabling Windows Defender is not recommended. Windows Defender is an important part of Windows 10’s security system, and disabling it can leave your computer vulnerable to malicious software, viruses, and other threats.

The first step to disabling Windows Defender is to open the Windows Defender Security Center. This can be done by clicking on the Windows icon in the taskbar, typing “Windows Defender” into the search bar, and selecting “Windows Defender Security Center” from the list of results.

Once the Windows Defender Security Center is open, select the “Virus & threat protection” option on the left side of the window. This will open a list of options related to virus and threat protection. Scroll down to the “Virus & threat protection settings” section and select the “Manage settings” option.

The “Virus & threat protection settings” window will now open. Scroll down to the “Real-time protection” section and select the toggle switch to turn off real-time protection. This will disable Windows Defender’s real-time protection feature, which is its main defense against malicious software and viruses.

Once the toggle switch is disabled, a prompt will appear asking if you are sure you want to turn off real-time protection. Select “Yes” if you wish to proceed. Windows Defender will now be disabled, and your computer will no longer be protected against malicious software, viruses, and other threats.

It’s important to note that disabling Windows Defender is not recommended. While disabling Windows Defender may be necessary in some cases, it is best to leave it enabled as it provides an important layer of security against malicious software, viruses, and other threats.

If you wish to re-enable Windows Defender, simply open the Windows Defender Security Center, select the “Virus & threat protection” option, and select the toggle switch to turn on real-time protection. This will re-enable Windows Defender and your computer will once again be protected against malicious software, viruses, and other threats.
