Configuring PowerShell to be ConEmu's Default Shell
ConEmu is a powerful terminal emulator for Windows that allows users to run multiple tasks in multiple tabs and windows. It is a great tool for developers, sysadmins, and anyone who needs to automate or interact with the Windows command-line. It can also be used to run PowerShell, the powerful scripting language and command-line interface included in Windows.
If you want to use ConEmu as your default shell for PowerShell, you can do so by making a few changes in the settings. This guide will walk you through the steps of configuring ConEmu as your default shell for PowerShell.
First, open ConEmu and go to the “Settings” window. You can do this by clicking the “Settings” icon in the upper-right corner of the window.
In the Settings window, select the “Integration” tab. Under the “Integration” tab, you will see a list of applications that ConEmu can integrate with. Scroll down and select “PowerShell” from the list.
Once you have selected “PowerShell,” you will see a list of settings related to PowerShell. The most important setting is “Use as default shell.” Click this checkbox to enable ConEmu as your default shell for PowerShell.
Now that ConEmu is your default shell for PowerShell, you may want to configure a few more settings. Under the “Integration” tab, you can customize the “Startup directory” and “Command line” settings.
The “Startup directory” setting allows you to specify the directory where PowerShell will launch. You can either enter a path to the directory, or click the “Browse” button to select a directory from the dialog window.
The “Command line” setting allows you to specify the command-line arguments that are passed to PowerShell when it is launched. You can either enter the command-line arguments manually, or click the “Browse” button to select a command-line script from the dialog window.
Once you have configured the “Startup directory” and “Command line” settings to your liking, click “OK” to save the changes. You should now be able to launch PowerShell from ConEmu and have it open in the directory and with the command-line arguments you specified.
You can also launch PowerShell from the Start Menu. If you search for “PowerShell” in the Start Menu, you should see an icon for “PowerShell ISE.” This will launch PowerShell in ConEmu with your settings.
Configuring ConEmu to be your default shell for PowerShell is a great way to improve your productivity and automate tasks. By taking the time to configure ConEmu and PowerShell, you can save yourself time and hassle in the long run.
