Batch-file, running application in order vs. all at once

As an IT administrator, it is important to know how to run applications in a certain order, or all at once, using a batch file. A batch file is a text file that contains a list of commands, which are executed in order. It is often used to automate tasks, such as running programs or performing system maintenance.

When running applications in a certain order, the batch file must first be created. This can be done by opening a text editor, such as Notepad, and typing in the commands to be executed. Each command should be on its own line and the order should be specified. For example, if you wanted to run the Notepad program, followed by the Calculator program, you would type:

notepad
calc

Once the commands have been typed into the text editor, the batch file can be saved. It is important to save the file as a .bat file; this will ensure that the file is recognized as a batch file.

Once the batch file has been created, it can be executed. To do this, simply double-click on the file. This will cause the commands to be executed in the order they were typed into the text editor.

If you want to run all of the applications at once, you can use the start command. This command is used to launch a program or application without waiting for it to finish before launching the next application. To use the start command, simply type “start” followed by the name of the application you want to launch. Multiple applications can be launched in this way by separating them with a space. For example, if you wanted to launch Notepad and Calculator at the same time, you would type:

start notepad calc

Once the start command has been typed into the text editor, the batch file can be saved and executed in the same way as before. This will cause both applications to be launched at the same time.

As an IT administrator, knowing how to run applications in a certain order, or all at once, is an important skill. By using a batch file, you can easily automate tasks, such as launching programs or performing system maintenance. The process is simple and requires only a few lines of code to get started.
